Florex
As the interior design studio chosen to work on the new company restaurant for Grootebroek’s Florex, we were presented with an exciting challenge when tasked with creating a space that offered meeting and customer reception capabilities. Florex, a supplier of flower bulbs, seeds, plant onions, and growing concepts to major retailers throughout Europe, wanted a unique, non-standard restaurant that reflected their corporate culture and provided plenty of space for personnel to relax and recharge.

The island and the “shells” around it create natural routes that guide people through the space, while still providing several cozy nooks and spaces that maintain the desired level of homeliness. With careful design consideration, the island also serves as a room divider, creating distinct areas for meetings, lunch, and other activities while also providing a visual representation of the company. We drew inspiration for the island’s shape from the cross-section of a flower bulb, which adds subtle meaning to the already distinctive design.
We created a multi-functional space that can accommodate everything from lunch breaks to customer meetings and celebrations. The restaurant is a true representation of Florex’s brand, achieved through our use of colors and materials that reflect their unique character. Sustainability was also top of mind, and we were able to use materials in a way that enabled us to design in a sustainable, circular way. You can see this in the floor and the acoustic element above the bar, which is not only a stunning focal point but also ensures that the space meets acoustic requirements.
Overall, we are incredibly proud of the design we created, and this project was an excellent opportunity to showcase our talents in interior design and our ability to transform spaces. We were delighted to work alongside Zwartwoud, our partner, and ensured that we provided complete realisation of the design – from initial concept through to final execution.
