Brunel Amsterdam
For Brunel Amsterdam, we have designed a masterful Friday afternoon drinks (vrijmibo) bar that not only wraps up the week but also exceeds norms as a multifunctional meeting point.
Our goal was clear: create a space where colleagues can informally gather and where meetings seamlessly blend with cozy drink moments. With this vision in mind and inspired by Brunel’s commitment to sustainability, we have developed an interior concept that is both groundbreaking and eco-friendly.
At the heart of our design? The distinctive elements of Brunel’s involvement in the Solar Challenge and Volvo Ocean Race, such as composite materials and aerodynamic shapes, served as our inspiration. These elements seamlessly merged into the design of the bar, aiming for the highest standard of sustainability.
Together with Npsp from Amsterdam, we have developed a revolutionary biobased composite material, allowing us to shape the segments of the bar. This modular approach made it possible to tailor the bar to any space while making a statement in pursuit of circularity.
But our innovation didn’t stop there. The custom-made glass back wall, mouth-blown and equipped with RGB LED lighting, adds an extra dimension to the space, while the floor, made from reclaimed wood and finished with a biobased lacquer, tells a story of reuse and craftsmanship.
The result? A vrijmibo bar that not only reflects Brunel’s identity but also our commitment to sustainability and innovation. This project not only marks a milestone in circular design but also demonstrates that together with our partners, we continue to push the boundaries, seeking a more sustainable future.
At Studio Oak, we take pride in this project and continue to strive for a world where design and sustainability go hand in hand. Welcome to the future of interior design.
