We were excited when, in 2015, we got the opportunity to design the very first packaging-free store in the Netherlands for Opgeweckt Noord. Retail design is something we truly enjoy, but the combination with sustainability and circularity made this project extra special.

We were proud to create the very first packaging-free store in the Netherlands! Almost all the food we consume is often packaged in plastic. We are all aware of the enormous impact this has on the environment. That’s why it’s important that we all do our part by choosing packaging-free products and locally sourced goods.
In the store, customers can find fresh and healthy products from local farmers and producers. Naturally, the store’s interior had to reflect its sustainable ambition. Since the concept of a packaging-free store was still new, we had to carefully consider the layout and product presentation. All materials we used are circular and sustainable.
We made sure the store radiates a warm and welcoming atmosphere where customers feel at ease. In addition, we created a cosy area in the back of the store where customers can enjoy a cup of coffee or work in peace.
The experience is completed by the beautiful graphic designs by Lieke from Studio Elbee, adding a playful and contemporary touch to the store.
We are incredibly proud of the result of this project. Together with Opgeweckt Noord, we succeeded in creating a unique and sustainable shopping experience where customers can consciously choose a better future. With this packaging-free store, we hope to inspire others to take steps towards a more sustainable society. Together, we can make a difference for the environment!
